Peace Monument Groupings
Several artists have created multiple peace monuments. And several groups have been formed to promote similar peace monuments in multiple locations. Such artists and groups are listed below. FlamesAugust 6, 1968 - Hiroshima Flame, Hoshino-mura, Fukuoka Prefecture, Kyushu Island (Japan) Original flame taken from Hiroshima to Kyushu Island in August 1945 by Tatsuo Yamamoto. Monuments created there in 1968 and 2002. Subsidiary flame displayed at Ueno Toshogu Shrine in Tokyo, in Wellington (New Zealand), and at some 40 other permanent sites in Japan. Subsidiary flames have traveled to UN, Trinity Site, and elsewhere in the USA but are presumably not permanent. Go to
World Peace Bell1982 - World Peace Bell Association (WPBA), 2-36-1-701, Nishi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo (Japan). Has placed 5 World Peace Bells in Japan and one in each of 15 other countries around the world. WPBA was founded in 1982 by Tomijiro Yoshida to carry on the work of Chiyoji Nakagawa [1905-1972] and Masahiro Kataoka [d.1983]. Nakagawe placed the Japanese Peace Bell at the UN in New York (USA) in 1954. Go to

Gardens1990 - International Peace Garden Foundation (IPGF), Batavia, New York (USA), Ottawa, Ontario (Canada) & Colomelles, Normandy (France) Promoted a series of peace gardens in Ottawa (Canada), Washington, DC (USA),Warsaw (Poland), Berlin (Germany), Budapest (Hungary), Strasbourg (France) & other cities. In 2012 established "The War of 1812 Bicentennial Peace Garden Trail" of 22 peace gardens in New York state (USA) & Ontario (Canada). IPGF president is Paula Savage. Go to
