Table of Peace Monument Chronology

N.B. This web page plots all 992 peace monuments for which dates of dedication are accurately known. The table shows the steady growth of the number of new peace monuments from 1900, reaching a peak of about two dozen new monuments per year worldwide in the years around 2002 -- and a possible decline since then. All monuments plotted on this web page may be identified by accessing the chronological files of this web site. Please keep in mind that many peace monuments are missing from this table (1) because they have not yet been identified, (2) because accurate dates of dedication have not yet been determined, or (3) because they have not yet been copied from the thematic and geographic files into the chronological files of this web site.
