North America:
70 Selected Peace Monuments(one in each of the 50 States, 10 Provinces
& 9 Territories of the USA & Canada
+Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon of France)THE 70 MONUMENTS ARE SHOWN BELOW IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER (AND THEMES ARE IDENTIFIED). CLICK HERE TO SEE THE SAME MONUMENTS RANGED FROM LARGEST UNIT IN NORTH AMERICA (CALIFORNIA) TO THE SMALEST (SAINT-PIERRE-ET-MIQUELON). This web page demonstrates the variety and widespread distribution of peace monuments. It shows only one peace monument in each of the 50 US states, 10 Canadian provinces, their 9 territories, and Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon (which is part of France -- the third nationality in North America).
The 70 states, provinces and territories are shown by descending population, thus in the approximate order that they are likely to contain peace monuments. The most populous state (California) has 6,300 times more people than the smallest territory (Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon). In fact, California has at least 80 peace monuments, whereas Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon and some of the other very small areas shown below have only the one peace monument shown (so far as I know).
Canada's 10 provinces and 3 territories are labeled in red. Saint Pierre is labeled in blue. Teritorries are italicised.
